Black Athletes Dominating Sports

Throughout history, African Americans have repeatedly been in situations where they have to prove themselves worthy or capable of performing certain actions. A wise man once told me, "In life, you will always have to work harder than the next person just because you're black". This is why achievements are so highly celebrated in the black community; also where the term 'Black Excellence' comes from.

From The Beginning

Ever since back in a day, Blacks were only looked at as being useful for sports; basketball and football specifically. So we took that and ran with it. We have had many who have in excelled in several sports. Everything from basketball and football to tennis and gymnastics.

History in the making

For example, Simone Biles. Simone first came on the scene in 2016 in the Olympics, competing in individual all-around, vault and floor gold medalist, and balance-beam bronze medalist. She has won a total of 25 Olympic and World Championship medals. Biles has grown to be the third most decorated female gymnast in history.

Simone with many other athletes helped paved the way for more trailblazers to come. We as a black community begin to venture out and tackle more than just sports. We went after academics, the sciences, entertainment, business, and politics.
The black community will continue to thrive and grow in every industry because one thing we do best is acknowledging black excellence.

  1. I remember my friend's coach once thought he was cheating because there was no way he was "that good at swimming." It's crazy how we really have to prove ourselves worthy.
