Since the 1850's sororities have been around on college campuses to lead and guide young women all around the world. Some sororities are very serious and have strict guide lines which members must follow while others are known as the party type. While not one sorority is the same white sororities have become looked at as almost a cult of white girls who all call each other "sisters". Sororities are not a bunch of ditsy girls trying to be the most popular, but are girls who want to join a 'family' and help make a change within the community and each other.
Fraternity
Fraternities have been around in America since about 1776. Since then the view on white fraternities has drastically been tarnished by scandals of hazing incidents, drugging girls at parties and being a douche bag. Aside from scandals on the news fraternities are meant for young men to learn leadership, community and maturity within their chapters not just drinking and partying. The next time you run into a Brad and Chad they might not be the stereotypical frat boy and could actually be a very nice gentleman.
