Black Greek Life

Black Greeks One of the many exciting things about college and campus life is Greek life. Depending on the type of school you go to, you could have organizations from the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). The National Pan-Hellenic Council is a group of nine historically black Greek organizations consisting of five fraternities and four sororities, also known as "The Divine Nine" or "D9". Hello everyone! I'm Elise I am a college student in Maryland, where I currently study Digital Marketing. I love sports such as basketball and golf, I even play golf for my University. My favorite professional sports teams are all Philadelphia based: Phillies, Eagles, 76er's, and the Flyers. Some of my other interests are listening to music, hanging out with my friends, watching movies and watching shows from my childhood, such as George Lopez, Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Chowder and many more.

Growing Up Black

I always find it so interesting how much we all actually have in common; especially growing up in black households. You'd be amazed by how much people with different backgrounds come together. For example, everyone has been in a situation where you are out with your parents and start to get a little hungry. You'll ask your parents for McDonald's, and their response would be "Do you have McDonald's money?" via GIPHY Manners When I was growing up, black kids were more conservative and quiet around their parents when we were young. We were taught not to speak unless you are spoken to, respect elders (which was basically everyone at the time), and not to talk when adults were talking. For example, when a black family is in a restaurant and it is the child's turn to order, the parent will often speak for them.
